In April of 1891 God brought forth the First Baptist Church of Coahoma for the sole purposes of glorifying God and evangelizing the lost. For more than 116 years this family has kept “the faith that was delivered to the saints once for all,” (Jude 3). The names and faces have all changed over the years, but this family of faith remains firmly committed to proclaiming the eternal glory of the Lord and reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ. First Baptist Church is committed to ministering to the whole person and the whole family. Our ministry includes programs for all ages from preschoolers through senior adults. All of our programs are coordinated within four ministry areas of Worship; Education; Prayer and Evangelism. We may be a smaller congregation but we truly have something to offer every person in the family. Though we are a strongly independent family, we have joined with other like minded congregations within the Big Spring Baptist Association and the Southern Baptist Convention to extend our ministries around the world. Because of the strength and commitment of our family joining with others we are now able to support more than 10,000 missionaries at home and abroad. In addition to this, our church is becoming increasingly involved in “hands on missions.” We welcome you to our site and trust you will make yourself at home.
